Working with young scientists is very rewarding and we are extremely proud of our contestants’ success.

In our seven year history participating in the FameLab International competition, Croatia have triumphed four times having won the first place once (Marko Košiček, 2008) and second place three times: Maja Marasović (2009), Ivana Stražić (2010)  and Andrea Gelemanović (2013).

Meet our FameLab winners:

2012 — Dubravka Stražić

Chemistry student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Zagreb. After participating in the FameLab competition, Dubravka was invited to present in ‘The Hall of FameLab’ at the Researchers’ Night at the Natural History Museum in London.

2011 — Iva Pritišanac

Molecular biology student. Following her success at FameLab, Iva won a prestigious Dutch scholarship Huygens and is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at the University of Utrecht.

2010 — Ivana Stražić

Our winner of FameLab Croatia 2010 has since graduated in the field of bioindustry from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Zagreb and the University of Orleans and then returned to France for her doctorate studies. At FameLab International she won the second place and the audience prize.

2009 — Maja Marasović

As a chemistry student she was the FameLab Croatia winner the runner up and the winner of the audience vote at the international competition. In 2009 Maja also received the prestigious Top scholarship for Top students prize. Maja is currently a research assistant at the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology in Split.

2008 — Marko Košiček

Chemist and research assistant at Ruđer Bošković Institute. He won first place and the audience award at FameLab International 2008 and became a real media star. He is involved in the Summer School of Science in Višnjan and helps prepare Croatian representatives at the International Chemistry Olympiad. Since 2013 Marko has been hosting a national science TV show: ‘Third element’.

2007 — Fran Supek

Biologist and research assistant at Ruđer Bošković Institute, winner of the first FameLab in Croatia. The same year he received the annual award for his scientific achievements as a young researcher from the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. He is currently pursuing postdoctorate studies  in  Barcelona, Spain. Fran is actively involved with the Famelab competition and the work of the Summer School of Science in Višnjan.
